Apprentice Diver

The next step from Class And Pool Diver. This Rating, only enrolled in the Class and Pool Sessions. The Apprentice Diver is to complete the Snorkeling Session and three Open Water Sessions. The individual must be underwater with a Dive Supervisor or Instructor

Snorkling Diver/Skin Diver Instructor

Snorkeling/Skin Diving Instructor teaches two of the beginning programs were the individual starts to learn the first level of body physiology during breath holding dives, using a snorkel. The student will be taught skills comfortable on the surface snorkeling and more complex surface dives, kicking skills, proper ascent skills as breathing skills.

Class and Pool Diver

This rating is for the individual who is enrolled in the complete Open Water Diver Program, for personal enrichment of information of theory and the skill learning of the open water diver, but seeks no need to experience the open water actuality of the open water diver.

Junior Open Water Diver

Junior Open Water program is for young adolescence student between the ages of twelve to fourteen, who may require individual tutoring of the physiology of the human body, gas laws, and proper equipment assembly, and the complete understanding of scuba skills underwater, so that young boy or girl will enjoy their new underwater world, safely, comfortably, properly trained with the skills and theory they will need.

Open Water Diver

Welcome to the exciting and spectacular world of underwater exploration with the proper training of scuba physiology of the human body, gas laws, equipment assembly, and complete understanding of scuba skills not only in the pool, but a complete learning experience in the open water environment, which will allow the new diver a complete, safe, comfortable, enjoyable new activity.

Advanced Open Water Diver

Advanced Open Water Divers perform the skills of the Open Water Diver adroitly. Adroitly means deftly and expertly with confidence, demonstrating ease and familiarity under pressing conditions. Advanced Navigation Routines, Stress Management, Advanced Rescue Techniques, Limited Visibility, Night Diving, Advanced Decompression Techniques are taught to the Open Water Diver, to obtain the highest non-commercial rating available for Recreational Scuba Divers.

Nitrox

What is Nitrox and why use it?

As it relates to the recreational SCUBA diver, Nitrox is best described as oxygen (O2) enriched air containing between 22% and 40% oxygen. Air is comprised of approximately 21% oxygen and 78% nitrogen with the remaining 1% being trace amounts of several other gases. As will all recreational SCUBA diving activities, the 130 foot/no-decompression diving rule applies.

By breathing Nitrox a typical diver will take up less nitrogen (N2) on a given dive, therefore lowering his/her risk of decompression sickness. An additional benefit of Nitrox is the reduced effect of nitrogen narcosis. While diving to depths below 80 feet or so, the nitrogen partial pressure will be less than a comparable air dive, thereby reducing the effects of nitrogen at deeper depths (80-130 foot range).

After a given dive the residual nitrogen levels will be lower than a comparable air dive, which in turn will increase available bottom time on repetitive dives, decreases your surface interval, or both. This also reduces the risk of flying after diving.

The Nitrox diver certification is a means to allow a preciously certified SCUBA diver the ability to purchase and use Nitrox breathing gas. A Nitrox diver has successfully completed the necessary study materials and exam to intelligently and responsibly use Nitrox. Nitrox is always a mix of between 22% and 40% oxygen used within the recreational depth limit of 130 fsw.

We adhere to the concept that Nitrox mixes up to 40% content may be used in equipment which has not been cleaned for oxygen service. PDIC maintains that because a SCUBA cylinder may see pure oxygen service from time to time that the cylinder may see pure oxygen service from time to time that the cylinder and the cylinder valve should be cleaned oxygen compatible. It should be emphasized that this position follows the Nitrox community and NOAA policies. We recognize that in the SCUBA environment, certain dangers associated with using oxygen (such as a self-ignition or auto-ignition of oxygen mixtures) are limited at best.

Specialty Diver

Distinctive or unique programs, which the rated diver may want to obtain to enrich their underwater activities.

Tri-Mix Diver

The Tri-Mix Diver is to competently and safely utilize breathing gasses containing helium for dives that require staged decompression, utilizing nitrox and/or oxygen mixtures during decompression to a maximum depth of 300fsw
